What does a Virtual Assistant do?
Virtual Assistants in the UK are the ultimate outsourcing masters. Years ago, we were renowned for our A* secretarial skills which we carried out from a remote location, but now we have upskilled to include many, many different services.
We offer our services remotely, hence the ‘Virtual’ in our job title. This means we are set up and ready to go when you need us. There’s no looking for desk space in your office or buying new equipment. We are responsible for this.
In the past few years, there has been an explosion of resources which help us keep in contact with our clients and work collaboratively.
My personal choice is Microsoft Teams. It is a free resource that allows me to share files securely and also chat in real-time with my clients. It also has a video calling function for those regular catch-ups.

How can Virtual Assistant Services help?
One of the great benefits of using a virtual assistant to help you with your workload is time. You are not restricted to a full or even part time employee. You choose how many hours you need and generally you can add on extra if needed. Obviously this could be different depending on who you use, but the way that I work is that you buy a block of hours per month on a rolling contract. This means that you’re not tied into a long contract (but I do offer preferential rates for those who commit to at least six months at a time).
So, what can a virtual assistant help with?
The most popular services I offer as a virtual assistant are:
Administration Support
My most popular service by far is admin support. I help clients with a range of support, these include:
- Arrange meetings
- Email management
- Contact management
- Copywriting
- Proofreading
- Book accommodation and travel
- Source and purchase products and services
- Online research
Social Media Support
With the increased need for businesses to have active social media channels, I help with creating content and scheduling posts to ensure that you are visible at the times best suited to your business. I offer individual social media packages if this is the only service that you require. The best thing to do would be to pop me a message and I can discuss it with you further.
Web Management
You’ve had your website built and now you’re expected to maintain it yourself but you have no idea where to start. That’s where I help. Whether you have a WordPress, Wix or Squarespace site, I will perform regular updates on your site and any plugins. I can also add pages and blog posts on to your site.
